Programming, Event Management and Author Interviews
Liv has extensive experience as a book festival programmer, event manager, event chair and workshop facilitator.
Liv has worked on book festivals across the country as a programmer, event manager, interviewer and workshop leader. She is currently Interim Creative Director at Hexham Book Festival in Northumberland, and Programme Manager (Special Projects) with Word Up North on the BBC Contains Strong Language festival during Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture. She is a freelance programmer with Cheltenham Festivals across the Literature and Science Festivals.
She also chairs events with Stratford Literary Festival and other book festivals around the country, as well as advising on organisational development for small arts organisations and book festivals.
She has also worked as workshop leader and PR & Marketing consultant with the Society of Authors.
Liv programmed and ran the 2024 Women’s Prize Trust‘s Women’s Prize LIVE in June 2024. She has previously worked on Birmingham Literature Festival and Durham Book Festival as well as the National Writers’ Conference.
With over 15 years’ of working on book festivals and live events of various sizes, Liv has knowledge and experience of all aspects of the industry. This includes setting up and managing box office systems including TicketSource, Spektrix and in-house theatre Box Office; marketing, social media and PR for book festivals and writer events; managing budgets; and fundraising from Trusts and Foundations including Arts Council England.
As an event Chair, Liv has hosted and interviewed dozens of writers in person and for podcasts, including Grace Dent, Elizabeth Day, Sathnam Sanghera, Kasim Ali, Hollie McNish, LJ Ross, Rabina Khan, Paula Hawkins, Sarah Moss, and Kapka Kassabova.
